Presence was always what mattered most and the before? The...whatever came before the current day. There wasn't quite a word for it. But whatever that was, we just never decided to name it. For what reason? Again, I assume forcing the priority of the current moment. There was always something upsetting about the day before or the day before that. At least right now, today, we have control.
If only for a moment. Control was often wrestled out of one’s grasp when most relaxed. Take your eyes off the prize for just a moment and that’s all tomorrow needs for it to take the today.
And that's when I decided to move back to Arizona, despite what might be waiting for me there.
My body welcomed the arid climate after having spent so long fighting off allergens and tree pollen. The lack of sweat in the desert heat was confusing at first. Though it brought joy to understand that I would no longer have to launder the stains from the pits of my white shirts. Though in this heat index...would a white shirt even be wearable? Perhaps it would be sleeveless tops going forward.
