Chapter Planner

Plan your story chapter by chapter, in whatever structure fits it.

Claim your desk

The Chapter Planner lays your story out as a board of chapters. Each one starts as a simple card with a title and a one-line summary, so you can see the whole shape before you draft. Add a structure when you want one: the hero’s journey, a seven-point arc, three acts, or a plain chapter list.

Switch between a board and a list, set a point of view, status, and word target on any chapter, and layer Dwight Swain’s scene and sequel craft onto a card when you want that depth. Link the plan to your manuscript and it rides beside the draft, with a jump to any chapter and a "you are here" marker as you write. It is part of Pro.

What it does

  • Plan chapter by chapter, each a card with a summary you can see at a glance.
  • Start from the hero’s journey, a seven-point arc, three acts, or a chapter list.
  • Switch between board and list views, and set point of view, status, and word targets.
  • Link it to your manuscript: jump to any chapter and see where you are as you write.
