Form Atlas

Browse the fixed forms, and write to one.

Start free

The Form Atlas is a library of fixed forms, from the haiku and the sonnet to the villanelle and the sestina. Each one shows its shape at a glance: how many lines, where they rhyme, how many syllables each carries, and which lines repeat.

Pick a form and check your poem against it line by line. The Atlas tracks the hard parts for you, the refrains that thread through a villanelle and the six end words that rotate through a sestina, and flags what does not yet fit. Inside the editor it can drop a labelled scaffold into your draft to write into.

The Form Atlas showing the structure of a form and checking a poem against it line by line

What it does

  • Shows the structure of ten fixed forms at a glance.
  • Checks your poem against a form: line count, syllables, rhyme, and refrains.
  • Tracks villanelle refrains and the sestina end word lattice for you.
  • Drops a labelled scaffold for a form into your draft, in the editor.
