Critique rounds

Run a writing group's rounds: share pieces by a date, critique each other's work, and meet to talk it through.

A round gives your writing group three dates: when pieces are shared, when critiques are due, and when you meet. Everyone sees what is next.

Starting a round

Open Rounds and start one. Set its dates, a minimum length for pieces, and the questions every critique should answer. A round can close itself to new pieces once enough are in. Rounds can follow a rotation, so the group knows whose turn it is to share.

Sharing a piece

While the round is open for sharing, choose a piece to share. It can be one of your own or one on the team’s Desk. Readers see the version you shared, even if you keep writing. You can withdraw it while the round is open for sharing. Share a revision later, and readers can compare it with the earlier version.

Critiquing

When the sharing date passes, the round moves to critiques. Open a piece, answer the round’s questions, and add notes on lines as you read. Home shows how many critiques you still owe. Writers can thank the people who critiqued them.

Meeting

Open the round’s meeting notes, a shared piece the whole group can write in during the meeting. Everyone gets a reminder before pieces and critiques are due.
