Teams

Guests on a team project

Bring an author, a client or a guest writer onto one project, without giving them the rest of the team.

A guest works on one project and sees nothing else of the team. A publisher brings in the author of a title, an agency its client, and any team can bring in a guest writer. Guests don’t take a seat on the team.

Inviting a guest

Open the project in Tasks and choose Add the author, Add the client or Add a guest writer. Invite them by @username or email, and choose what they may do: review, sign off, read the team’s notes on the project, or edit.

They get an email and a notice in Inkbreaker. Someone new to Inkbreaker signs up from the email and comes straight back to the invite.

What a guest sees

Guests find their projects under Team projects in their menu, along with any invites still Waiting for your answer. On a project they see:

  • the steps given to them, with any files on them, such as a proof to read
  • the rest of the schedule, to read only
  • the files the team shared with guests, such as a contract or style sheet
  • the team’s notes, if they were allowed to read them
  • for a client, where their book has been sent and where each submission stands

When a step needs their approval, they choose Sign off, and the team sees it straight away. They can attach their own files back to a step, such as a marked-up proof.

Ending it

Remove a guest from the project at any time. Their own account and work stay theirs.
