Fonts
The twelve standard fonts every writer has, and the catalogue of about 1,800 fonts that comes with Pro, in the editor, Imprint, Cover Studio and your Creator Page.
Every writer has twelve standard fonts. With Pro, or while your trial runs, you can also choose from about 1,800 more, and use them in the editor, in Imprint, in Cover Studio and on your Creator Page.
The standard fonts
Serif, Georgia, Times, Garamond, Palatino, Sans, Arial, Verdana, Trebuchet, Tahoma, Mono and Courier are there for everyone, on every plan. Pick one from the font menu in the editor’s toolbar, or for the whole piece from the editor’s Format menu.
The catalogue that comes with Pro
At the bottom of the font menu, choose More fonts… to open Every font, the whole catalogue in one window. On the free plan that row carries a Pro chip and takes you to the plans page. During a trial it is open, with a chip that says it is yours while the trial runs.
Where you can use them
- In the editor. Set a font for a whole piece from the Format menu, give a heading style its own font, or select a few words and change just those.
- In Imprint. Choose the Body font, the Initial font for drop caps, and the Typeface for chapter headings. The fonts are built into the designed EPUB and the print-ready PDF when you export, so the book looks the same on every e-reader and on paper. Those two exports come with a paid plan; see Making an EPUB or print PDF book.
- In Cover Studio. The cover fonts are open to everyone, and More fonts… opens the whole catalogue. See Cover Studio.
- On your Creator Page. In the Look tab, choose a Font for headings and a Font for text. See Your Creator Page.
Finding a font
Search by name, or sort by Popular or A to Z. Narrow the list by kind: serif, sans serif, display, handwriting, typewriter, pixel or blackletter. Works in shows only the fonts that have the letters your language needs, such as Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese or Greek. At the top, the suggested fonts are ones that suit the look you are working in.
Readers see your fonts
A page loads only the fonts it uses, straight from Inkbreaker, so your choices show up without slowing the page down. A piece that uses only the standard fonts loads nothing extra.
If your Pro time ends
The catalogue fonts you already chose stay on your pieces and books, so nothing you made changes how it looks. You can add new ones from the catalogue again when you come back to Pro.
