Teams

The writers' room

Plan seasons and episodes, write scripts in screenplay format, run table reads, and prepare a script for production.

A writers’ room team has places for the whole season, from breaking stories to shooting days. A new writers’ room starts with a Show bible, a world for the show’s characters, places and rules.

Seasons and episodes

Open Seasons to start one. A season has a board for breaking its stories. Each episode has its beats, its writers and its script. Choose a beat to write it straight into the script.

Scripts

Write in the screenplay mode: scene headings, action, characters and dialogue format as you type, including dual dialogue. Import and export Final Draft (FDX), Fountain, Fade In and Highland files, with their scene numbers, revisions and title pages.

Once the script is locked, turn on File › Script revisions. Each new revision has its color, changed lines are marked, page numbers stay locked, and new scenes get A and B numbers. Print the revision pages as a PDF.

Table reads

Open Table reads to read a script together. Each person takes their parts, and their lines show in their color. Everyone follows the same page: whoever taps a line or Next line moves the read on for the whole room. A part nobody takes can be read aloud by the app’s reading voice. Notes land on the scene being read, and the read keeps time for each scene.

Production

Production prepares a script for the shoot. Break down each scene by cast, props and other elements. Arrange scenes into shooting days on the stripboard. Make a call sheet for each day, plan the shots for each scene, and keep the budget by account. Each of these prints as a PDF.
